Achieve both flexibility and durability

DURANOL™ is available in a wide range of liquid grades, enabling both flexibility and durability in polyurethane resin products. In addition to resistance to hydrolysis, DURANOL™ offers abrasion resistance, chemical resistance such as sunscreen and DEET, and stain resistance against color migration on jeans. Therefore, it can maintain the aesthetic appearance of interior parts and car seats for a long period of time.

Reduction of VOCs

Our liquid grades contribute to reduced solvent usage and higher solids content in paints due to their high solubility. The water-dispersion series contributes to reduced VOCs by making paints water-based and reduces handling risks at workplaces, thereby improving safety.

Bio-polyurethane

DURANOL™ has a lineup of bio-based grades. Since BPN02 is made from bio-based raw materials and has a high carbonate content, it contributes to both high performance and bio-oriented polyurethane resin products.

Usage example01

Synthetic leather for car seats

Duranol™ enhances important properties such as chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, hydrolysis resistance, and flexibility in the “Leather Finish Layer,” “Skin Layer,” “Adhesive Layer,” and “Wet Layer” that make up synthetic leather. For example, it improves abrasion resistance in the leather finish layer, enhances chemical resistance in the skin layer, optimizes hydrolysis resistance in the adhesive layer, and improves flexibility in the wet layer.

*Leatherfinish layers using ether-based polyols or conventional solid grades show significant damage from sunscreen creams. On the other hand, surface treated layers with Duranol™ BPN02 show virtually no damage from sunscreen creams.

Usage example02

Interior and exterior paints

Due to its high solubility, DURANOL™ contributes to the reduction of solvent usage through the high solid content in the paint. In addition, AKN11 and other water-dispersion series have attracted particular attention because of their ability to be dispersed in water. DURANOL™ also contributes to the high performance of polyurethane dispersions (PUD) and can be used in waterborne coatings.

Soft-feel paint for interior paints

Soft-feel paints using DURANOL™ convey a sense of luxury and uniqueness to users and bring about product differentiation.
DURANOL™ is a polycarbonate diol (PCD) and is mainly available as a liquid grade at room temperature, and has been used in many end products as a soft-feel paint, mainly in our T5652 product.
