Solution Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SSBR)

TUFDENE™️

Enables both sustainability and driving performance of tire

Asahi Kasei's modified SSBR is used as a base material for silica compound tires in order to achieve both high driving performance (gripping performance, maneuverability, etc.) and sustainability (pursuing fuel efficiency and extending product life by improving wear resistance).

Product Q&A

Contact

QDo you make tires?

A Asahi Kasei is a synthetic rubber manufacturer that manufactures raw materials used in tire compounds and sells them to tire manufacturers.

QIs Tufdene™ a continuous polymerization process or a batch polymerization process?

A Tufdene™ is SSBR of a continuous polymerization process. Asahi Kasei also manufactures a batch polymerization process SSBR and sells them under the product name of the Asaprain™.

QDo you have any technical data and can I get samples?

A Please inquire from the site of the Synthetic Rubber Division for details.

By using it as a raw material for tires, it contributes to fuel saving and tire wear resistance.

Feature01

Excellent balance between high efficiency of fuel and grip performance of tire

Fuel-saving performance (low rolling resistance) and wet grip performance are generally reversed. Asahi Kasei's SSBR denaturation technique enables the efficient dispersion of silica in the tread compound of tires, thus improving this counter performance in a well-balanced manner. Asahi Kasei continues to develop this balance at night and day to achieve higher levels.

Feature02

Strength and wear resistance of tire

The wear resistance and strength of tire treads are crucial to the popularization of EVs with high torque and heavy vehicle weights and the trend toward sustainability (longer tire life).
Asahi Kasei's continuously polymerized process-modified SSBR will contribute to this need trend.

Contribution to the environment

In December 2020, the Synthetic Rubber Kawasaki Manufacturing Department won the "Gold" rating, equivalent to the top 5% of all assessments in EcoVadis's sustainability survey.
