Product Q&A

Contact

QDo you provide a lineup of other A/D converters?

A Please refer to the list of products on Asahi Kasei Electronics Corporation's website (the following URL).
The products whose Other column shows “Automotive grade” are automotive products.

As A/D converters for microphones, AK5734 and AK5736 can be used for active noise cancellation (ANC) and road noise cancellation systems (RNC) which are increasingly being installed in automobiles.

As A/D converters for microphones, AK5734 and AK5736 can be used for active noise cancellation (ANC) and road noise cancellation systems (RNC) which are increasingly being installed in automobiles.

Feature01

Low latency signal processing

These A/D converters improve the accuracy of noise cancellation control systems, which require real-time processing.
Low latency is achieved, at 4.3 [1/fs; 90 μs@48 KHz].

Feature02

High input impedance

At the input, impedance is high, at 1.48MΩ (typically). Therefore, using resistance or capacity at the input easily allows for the design of filters or attenuators.
In addition, unlike digital processing, the use of the converters does not degrade the dynamic range. Furthermore, A/D converters allow the connection of an acceleration sensor with high output impedance without the necessity of a buffer amplifier.

Feature03

Microphone connection diagnosis

A/D converters can diagnose microphone connection status. They notify the user of abnormal connections in real-time during operation.
The simple diagnosis mode has an accuracy of 100mV, while the high-accuracy diagnosis mode’s accuracy is 12bits. In addition, since they can read the DC levels of connecting pins with a high degree of accuracy (around 12bit), they can be used for users’ own diagnosis algorithms.

Usage example01

Using A/D converters for ANC and RNC systems provides highly accurate noise cancellation

ANC and RNC systems cancel unwanted sounds by adding negative phase sounds to the specific sounds that need to be removed.
A delay in adding negative phase sounds greatly affects the cancellation amount.
AK573x achieves a low latency of 4.3 [1/fs], contributing to the improvement of noise cancellation accuracy.

Usage example02

Using A/D converters for ANC and RNC systems provides compatibility with various channel configurations

AK5734 and AK5736 are equipped with a TDM interface which enables a cascade connection of 16 channels. A combined use of the former and the latter makes them compatible with several ANC and RNC systems with different channel configurations, without increasing the number of digital signal lines.
